Maybe it’s time to rethink expectations commensurate with age. In the current decade, I have known three people who are well into their 90s. All of them live on their own, are fully functional, drive, take care of their own household affairs and do their own yardwork, shopping, etc. I’ve seen in each of them that they deeply resent coddling (“You poor ol’ thing, let me help you”). Their self-sufficiency keeps them going.
