I’m not a fan of winning scores being -18. That said, tricking up a course isn’t that “true test of golf” that the USGA expounds. Narrow the fairway a couple of yards? That’s okay. Make the greens like cement where a shot close to the pin then proceeds to roll 50 feet by is just wrong.
As for the Four Majors, give me THE Open Championship. Mother Nature tends to be the deciding factor, not some suits.

I enjoyed the U.S.Open this year. Watching the pros struggle, just as hard to make par, as the average duffer, was fun to watch.
