Yes, Little Dog, you did. He thought you were insulting him. Even though, we all know you weren’t. :-)
Probably because it already had to deal with:
1. In a fixed or steady manner.
2. Firmly, unwaveringly, steadfastly; with confidence.
3. Without intermission or cessation.
4. Closely, securely.
All of those were meanings of “fastly” before “quickly” tried to shove its way in, too. The poor word finally burst like an overinflated balloon.
