A nursing home wouldn’t even take Carmen – she is too capable and able-bodied. And you don’t even go to “assisted living” against your will unless you’ve been proven legally incapable of taking care of yourself. There are legal protections in place; Tia Carmen’s in no danger. Her imagination is running wild.

Tia Carmen should look into the Japanese ’n Chinese cultures. Last time I checked, THEY take care of their elders FOR LIFE ! Well, a lot of ’em do !

Why am I betting it was one of the brochures that comes with a newspaper or in a pile of mail and fell onto the couch unnoticed while someone was reading or sorting. I really can’t imagine he’d do that to her.

I assume the brochure did not contain room rates which can easily be $40-$100k a year for a semiprivate room and Medicare will not pay anything and Medicaid only if it is medically necessary.

I was wondering when they were getting back to this story arc.
