So many fun things in this! Lupin in panel 3 is Awesome. But I think it is Buzzy who steals the show. We have cuddly Buzzy, crossword Buzzy, sleeping Buzzy, blushing/laughing Buzzy(panel 6) and Buzzy with his teeny tiny coffee mug. So much to love!!!
OK, the guys are adorable in bed in their jammies- Puck even has his coffee with him. I can relate. But on this one I have to admit a certain amount of envy towards The Man. After roughly 40 years in Customer Service, answering telephones and resolving complaints, I turn my phone ringer off until noon. This does not mean I don’t CHECK my phone regularly, but being awakened by a ringing phone is torturous. :-P
As someone who works from home and has to attend conference calls, I can totally relate to this! I was bedridden due to the flu once but I didn’t want to miss any important calls so I would call in bedside without anyone catching on. The trick is to pretend you’re sitting at a desk all made up and SMILE as you talk and no one can tell.
Our Tuxedo, nicknamed “Digger” (yea, I know… name the cat then give it a nickname, too. Humans!) climbs into bed and sleeps on top of the covers between my legs. Sometimes I sit up and pet her, and she’ll purr, roll over on her back and stretch to what appears to be 1-1/2 times her normal length. At that point I want to call Uber Eats and have them deliver eggs (up) and toast, a tin of sardines, and two cups of coffee. With milk.
Tre-C turned in the direction of the voice. It was the old man, standing with a bag of kibble in one hand and a can of Friskies in the other. She succumbed to the urge to just come out and say; “My cat! It’s good to see you again!”, but even speaking to him all he heard was ‘meowow, rrrowf’. But as if he understood, the old man said, “It’s good to see you, too, little one. Where you been?” Tre-C heard a voice behind the man- probably from the kitchen; “Are you sure it’s her? You know how long it’s been. You sure it’s not Dee Dee?” The Old Man looked exasperated. “Yes, I’m sure. For one thing, Dee Dee just walked up from the driveway” And with that, Tre-C did a double-take that would have been perfectly suited for a 50’s sitcom. Walking up the driveway was a perfect duplicate of her- except for the clipped right ear.
“Ok, if that’s Dee Dee, then Jet shouldn’t be far. And Andy. Andy- he’d never miss a meal, I know he’ll be here.” She was hesitant to just stroll over and start asking questions. And this was dinner time- should she just back off until they’re done? “Megan’ll know what to do. I need to wait a bit… I’m sure she’ll be here in no time.” So that’s what Tre-C did; moved out to the center of the big back yard, far enough to not interfere with dinner but still in plain sight of the people. In fact, the Woman came out to the back porch and gazed out into the yard. “It sure LOOKS like Tre-C. You gonna feed her, too?” “I’ll put some more kibble down after the kids finish. I saw a big tuxedo walking on the back fence, too. I kinda’ hope she comes down” Tre-C was thinking the same thing.
I’m getting dirty looks for laughing so much but the boys in their various sleeping positions is hilarious and Buzzy of course is right in the midst of it :)
One time I woke up in the middle of a phone conversation with a friend. No, I didn’t fall asleep while she was talking. I answered the phone and carried on a conversation while I was still asleep. She’d had no idea I was sleep talking.
I like to think I have a good “wide awake” voice, but I often betray myself. The person on the other end can rarely understand me, so I say that I “was just taking a nap, sorry!” if they catch on.
(Pssst… I wasn’t taking a nap. I was still sleeping in. But this stays between us.)
I now suspect that this is what Blossom does when I’m asleep or otherwise not paying attention to her. Probably Bagheera too, whenever he was on the bed. Puck also seems to share my love of word puzzles. :D
Good morning and happy Bunday, orbsters and orbabies! There is so much to love in today’s strip, I don’t know where to start. Yum Yum graciously allowed me to sleep until 6:01 this morning, before tap dancing on my bladder and screeching in my ear. Then she decided to deposit a dainty hairball on the rug by the front door. Sigh…..
Love that last panel. Our Siamese stretches out on his back just like that. I took a measuring tape to him one day – 35" of long furry cat stretched out across the bed.
I know we beg for merch all the time with cute images from the daily strips but PLEASE can we have a mug with the various sleeping positions of the Boys.
Aww. You can really tell that Lupin is fond of The Man in today’s strip – note where he’s sleeping in all panels! :) And OMC is that Elvis tummy I see?! Want to pet.. want to pet..
OK, question: What is the mostly white rectangle that Elvis has in panels 3 & 4, please. My brain is apparently not working, as no one else appears confused. (Today’s strip is awesome-plus!)
Ah… this is me. I currently work from home answering phones for a living. 24/7. Can do sleep to work effortlessly. I also have 3 colleagues. 2 ginger. 1 black.
This is how to spend a day. Of course with kitty help like that no one could get out of bed. Cats have the ability to force their human slaves into supine position when they want peace and quiet and body heat. I know it’s true it happens to me on a regular basis.
I’ve been too busy to comment here much lately, but always always always make room for reading it. BCN is the brightest spot in every day. Today, just love the sleepy boys in their jammies.
#1…love how Puck and Elvis take turns napping and reading the paper…while Lupin takes just migrates around the bed demonstrating the 8 best sleeping-in-on-Sunday positions. #2..my co-workers always start giggling at me when, mid-“I have had it up to HERE with today!” tirade, I stop and answer the phone with my best customer service voice, “This is ____ speaking, how may I help you?”
