Because your parents don’t want people saying, “hey, look what Calvin is doing! Right in public, too! That’s GROSS!”

Calvin finally finds something interesting at the zoo.

What if the birds are doing something even worse?

Wait six or seven years, Calvin, and then you can do that in public and you will most likely be charged as a minor. I remember a monkey doing that several years ago.

Because you do that in the privacy of your bedroom!

The neighbors probably won’t even be surprised if Calvin starts doing that.

At last, Calvin meets his spirit animal!

hahahaahah- took me so long to “get” this one. I don’t think my parents ever told me what the joke was. I love Calvin’s excitement at it, and how his parents are trying to avoid reacting too strongly.

At least Calvin really is learning something from all this.

Years ago when my son was in T-ball a kid in the neighboring outfield dropped his drawers, swatted and did his business for all to see. We laughed so hard I nearly fell off the bench.

Monkey see, monkey do!

Zoos let people see how wild animals used to huge stretches of wilderness behave when confined to a few square metres of enclosed space. I remember seeing a tiger just continuously walking around in a tight circle.

If he’s referring to poop-flinging, we see it everyday on the NEWS. :D

There is an amazing reptile zoo in Rapid City S.D. They have several Galapagos turtles in one pen. Said turtles make loud noises when they…uh… cuddle.

Today’s strip was a LOL.

Because Calvin, you’re not a monkey.

Nice of mom to carry Hobbes.

Leave it to Calvin to spot the gross stuff. Imagine what he’ll show little Suzie next time he sees her at lunch.

Calvin already has some awareness of the behavior he saw, or he would have asked “What are those monkeys doing?”.

In the third grade, we used to tell a unsuspecting kid that, if he did that, a hair would grow in the palm of his hand. Invariably, as he was denying that he did that,he would be looking in the palm of his hand! :o}

I always thought the last line was “Come over here and look at the birds, Calvin.”

When they use their prehensile tails, “it feels like someone else”.

Make a face at that monkey, Calvin. You will be impressed at how well they can throw things.

What are they only doing?

But Calvin they have stickers of you doing that on trucks all the time.

For some reason monkeys get mad really easily
