This makes me sad, but people won’t do right. The flowers the bees need to pollinate we call them weeds and kill them because we have to have “lush green lawns”!
“A weed is just a wildflower that got lost”. I wrote that almost 20 years ago while fighting pesticide use. I now own 55 acres of wildflowers, milkweed and pollinater friendly plants. We are chemical free as we are right on the bird migration path. Our local honey house keeps his bees nearby so they feed and collect pollen from our meadows. We love and protect our bees! :)
The bees seem to be hypnotized by the movement of the water in our pool. They fly in to drink, I suppose. I save at least one a day so I hope I’m doing my part. I tell my kids and grandkids to never kill them. They seem to comply. Wasps are another story. They must die!
While I appreciate the sentiment behind this particular comic, it’s anachronistic because the pesticide-type that’s killing bees — neonicotinoids — didn’t come into widespread use until the late 1990s.

Very wise of you, Red. We must try harder to do right for the bees!

Maybe a copy of this should be sent to EPA director and nemesis Scott Pruitt

As Joni Mitchell sang: please mr. farmer put away your DDT now. Give me spots on my apples but give me the birds and the bees, please.
