Funny, we know a lot about humans and calories, humans burn 60-85 calories an hour doing nothing depending on weight. I looked it up when it comes to cats they know nothing. Cats are very good at conserving energy, minus the one or two times they have a romp through the house but it doesn’t last long.
Most calorie burning charts do have entries for inactivity, even sleeping, and the number of calories used is greater than nothing; it takes energy just to stay alive, after all. And it gives you a meaningful comparison between just sitting around and exercising.
The mouth can take in calories faster that the body can burn them off. That should tell you something. And if it didn’t, it means eating less is more important than exercising more.

Depends on how many times he hits him with it. A whole hour ought to burn at least as many calories as swimming.

25 per whack and it’ll be worth every swing. Do a good job on Jon and I might chip in a few more for you.

I think ten smacks with a book ought to make him smarter.

You’d think the many times Garfield ever hit Jon would burn plenty of calories. Not to mention kicking Odie.

Maybe Garfield can do some power sleeping.

Now this is the kind of exchange between Jon and Garfield that is truly funny!

They’re “SELF HELP” books. Keep them to yourself.

Just a simple movement from Garfield would help him burn a good bit of calories.
