Agnes and Lucy are shy…. and it is difficult for shy kids a lot of the time, and I suspect this may be especially true for twins (I am presuming Agnes and Lucy are twin sisters.) who are shy.
I think there are two ways to view the Nancy and Sluggo interaction:
1. From a real (albeit perhaps less “comical”) perspective…. often shy kids are somewhat noise sensitive as well. Sluggo and Nancy whispering along with Agnes and Lucy seems like perfect success to me… all four ARE interacting together…. and I would suggest pretty successfully and in ways that appear comfortable for all four of them.
2. From a more comedic level…. the fact that Sluggo and Nancy have now joined in and have adopted the “keeping to themselves” whispering…. suggests a sort of “angsty” quality to their feelings and emotions and the “secretes” all four a keeping from Aunt Fritzi and Agnes and Lucy’s Mom.
Either way works for me. I think both reads work well.

Getting used to the new Nancy – and I think it’s pretty cool. I still miss the old aunt Fritzi though… hope she goes into surgery soon.

It just hit me. Is this the first minority character to appear in Nancy? I don’t recall.

Agnes and Lucy’s mother has a “Yeah, right—heard that before” look on her face.

Okay, so the score is one Fritzi, one tan Fritzi, two Mini-Me’s, Nancy and Sluggo. Have I left anybody out?

Looks like “Nancy meets the Blair-Witch Project”.

At least they’re whispering with one another and not texting each other.

I love the Fritz glare (reminds me of the Batglare).
