Cheapskate…….Portia does not know she is set up. Jacob never said he was going to ask her. Instead he used the info he obtained in the brain drain to fake the call that she accepted the death deal. The best bait is one who does not know they are the bait. Walt may know of the Jacob plan since he is the one who repaired her phone. His drinking may be a ruse. They would never come at her with him around. Just a theory.
Portia was cheering on a death he knew was wrong. She would have killed him if she could have gotten her hands on the editor. Walt closed the door on someone who wanted help and he knowingly refused it. There is alot to be very upset about. Alot to process and think about what is important in this new world. Survival trumps morality. Eating and basic security trumps ideals. when the shooting stops, people have to process what they did – and what they didn’t do.
Took me a while to realize what it was on his chest. He is holding one of those stainless steel hip or pocket drinking flasks. The cap has fallen off onto his belly and the booze has dribbled down his shirt.
Walt knows something…or suspects something about Portia. I don’t think there was time for Walt to be told of Jacobs sting attempt on the “Cabal”. He’s apparently be drawing away from Portia, and whatever it is has moved Walt back to drinking. What did he see? Portia’s public denouncement of Foxworthy, her demand that Walt view his hanging, and then her insistance that Foxworthy’s death would bring things back to normal didn’t feel right to me. Maybe it didn’t seem right to Walt, either.

I know Aaron ’s trying to build suspense. But he sure paints a scene of almost abject depression here.

Walter, dear Walter, come home with me now;
The clock in the steeple strikes one.
You said you were coming right home from the shop
As soon as your day’s work was done.
