Austin looks at most forty, Ugly Christine met her doom in 1966 and Crystal is a teenager. Or AUstin made a pact like Dorian Gray or the timing is wrong
Well call me a sappy old romantic but I’m really happy to see that Austin appears to be on the up and up AND is looking to be a real man. He appears to be the sort of fellow who, unlike her Uncle Bribery, would be a good father figure in Crystal’s life regardless of the biological situation.
Well, this is an interesting twist. Let’s hope that this will turn out to be a good thing. Things like this at times in Tracy’s universe doesn’t always go well.
So, Mr. Austin has something to mull over. But just because he’d “try” to be a good father, that doesn’t mean he would be. His self-doubt seems justified. After a lifetime (of hard-to-determine duration) spent courting danger as a snitch and living pretty much on his own, good intentions alone probably could not turn him into a good father, especially not for a teenaged girl who herself has grown up under the cloud of being called “Ugly.”
So, we might get an emotional reunion (if DNA proves that Austin really is Crystal’s father), but I’m not sure they would then go on to “live happily ever after” together.
I guess I just do not have much trust in Lafayette Austin.

Good morning™, contemplative informants!
It looks like we have a willing guardian for Crystal if he proves to be her father.

It appears that Lizz didn’t think of the possibility that Austin could be Crystal’s father

He may want to adopt her considering her position. But She is old enough probably to be emancipated if she wants to.
