School is too boring for kids. Kids are inherently active, not passive, but school can’t deal with that, so they ‘diagnose’ normal kids with disorders.
There is a little bit to be said about kids sometimes practicing sitting still, being quiet and pretending to listen…..if only to teach them how to manage that with grace as adults when they have company meetings to sit through.
Though I can remember being sent on errands by my elementary school teachers a lot. I thought it was a special privilege. Looking back, I think I know why they wanted me out of the classroom and moving around as much as possible.
Most kids don’t need medication for behavior. When I was a squirmy kid, I was looking out of the window to see what was going on, checking out what the teacher had to say, learning from the book in front of me and watching the funny kids playing jokes. All my inputs were filled and I was downloading as fast as I could. I was just a really young human encountering the world, not a computer, but my jerking my head around to take it all in annoyed my teacher. Thank God my parents refused the psychiatric counseling.

Tell the grown-ups that you don’t have an attention deficit, they just aren’t very interesting.

exigology, n., a statement whose converse is its own explanation.
Examples:
Politicians never do what my side wants, so I never vote.
Girls aren’t interested in me, so I don’t see why I should care about hygiene.
I’m terrible at this, so I’m not even gonna try.
Life is short, so I’m eating as many bacon salad sandwiches as possible.

At least it’s not that Jane Plainwell’s dogs only live for a day after she gets them.
