Let’s see, at $4 per box, that’s $20. Just about right so they can figure it out, and they don’t have to make change. $5 per box works too, but they have to carry more change from house to house. It’s good education for them, but keep an eye on them Moms and Dads so they get it right.
I buy my “Samoas” at Dollar General. $1.50 a box and just as good. And before I hear a ration of s***, I’m on a limited income and can’t afford the Girl Scout cookies.
Every year at school we got the magazine subscription drive. IIRC, it was Curtiss Publishing behind all that. How does one sell subscriptions in a neighbourhood filled with other kids selling them? My aunts were usually good for a sub. and my mother would buy “Life” if they had that. Then at the end of the drive the same people would win the big prizes every year. They must have had big families without children.
My first job was in sales, a neighbor of ours was in the egg and dairy business, and i went door to door selling eggs in my neighborhood. At 14 years old i did pretty well selling about 100 dozen a week with a 15 cents profit on every dozen. My best week was right before Easter in 1973 when I sold 170 dozen eggs. I still an in sales up to this day, now at a wood working retail store.
Mega-many years ago I was commander of a youth group and we sold zip code books door-to- door as a fund raiser. But before we did, I had a list of all potential sellers at the local police department so any home-owner cold call for confirmation.
