Wasps do tend to incite panic, and not unreasonably. What you bring depends on location. If you’re in the woods, bring yourself to somewhere else. You are on their turf, and you cede it to them.
Wasps are evil flying murder bugs. I swear, they only exist to create chaos and misery wherever they happen to fly. I spend most of my summer squashing the spawns of Satan when they get in the house.
Hey, Doctor Toon!!! If you start to swell up from a sting or bite, or after eating something, go to ER!!! Do not pass go, do not collect money, go directly to ER!!! It’s called an allergic reaction and swelling can go into your throat and close your airways and you suffocate and die, before you can dial 911!!! It doesn’t matter if it’s not close to your throat, either, the reaction can spread like wildfire in California!!!
While camping in the Rockies of BC I was eating dinner amid dozens of wasps. One of them, unseen by me, hitched a ride on a piece of meat I was forking into my mouth. It bit and or stung my tongue four times before I was able to pull it out of my mouth. One of the most painful experiences of my life. It pretty much knocked me out for the night.
Wasps are our only real bug problem here. We just got rid of a huge wasp nest on our patio. It belonged to paper wasps and was almost the same color as our house – didn’t notice it for some time.

Never worried about wasps, I usually just batted them away when they got close
Got stung a few months ago, my face and hands swelled up and I felt like I was having some kind of attack
Took a benadryl and it passed eventually
I almost never go to the doctor and have only been to the emergency room once in my life, and that was for a broken wrist
Kinda wonder if I should have gone, if it ever happens again I think I will
