My wife works with the refugee population in our local area. Compared to them I’ve never had a bad day in my entire life.
I get up in the morning 15 feet away from potable water.
I eat breakfast. I’ve never known hunger except by choice.
I go to work. I have a job, it pays well enough for food and shelter and it is safe to work at it.
I come home and my home has not been burned to the ground, my wife has not been raped and murdered, my daughter has not been sold into prostitution and my son has not been given drugs and an AK-47 and conscripted into some warlord’s army.
I go to bed and say my prayers and do not fear that I will be killed for my choice of god and how I worship that god. The prayers are all of thanks.
