Fun little bit of trivia: Leonhard Euler proved that any shape or graph could be drawn in this manner as long as it has exactly 0 or 2 vertices that have an odd number of edges. Nancy’s shape has 4 vertices with an odd number of edges, so it’s impossible.
Seriously? These are the comics they do for the summer? The teacher now seems like the main character of the strip? Where are all the things kids really do in the summer? Where is the baseball and trips to the beach? I used to look forward to this strip every day, now its mostly Nancy in the classroom; even when she goes to camp its the same thing. :(
Let’s mix things up a bit here, Olivia. Counting since April: art camp, Aunt Fritzi, cellphones, contemplation, cornbread, eating, electronics, Esther, foliage, ice cream, jealousy, mud, rain, robots, school, shopping, sleeping, Sluggo, snow?, the twins… A big universe out there. And Nancy never got sent to a corner or to her room with supper.

Nope, can’t break the 4th wall, Nancy…

I think she might have hit on one of the few solutions – a count of lines and vertices suggests it’s not possible without trickery.

You know, this strip still runs in print newspapers; readers of which would consider “print[ing] out this comic” to be redundant.

If Nancy can’t solve it, then the teacher must tell her how to solve this problem. If not, then she can’t trust the teacher.

If Nancy can do this, she should be teaching the class. Or a university math theory course.
