I remember the English department of my University had a list of jobs for people with English degrees pinned to one of the walls. Within a week, somebody had written “ALL @#$%-ING LIES!!” in sharpie over the list.
I once got a Clark College (Vancouver, Washington) class catalogue in the mail. It offered Japanese, which interested me, but it was level two and it requested a level one prerequisite to the language or experience in the language. I don’t have that much of the latter.
there’s the old joke.if you speak three languages you’re trilingualif you speak two languages you’re bilingualif you speak one language, you’re an american.

Thanks to Duolingo.com, I’m having more fun learning foreign languages now than I ever did in any classroom.
