Au contraire, Lucy. “Cow house” does indeed exist, along with “shippen” (sheep pen). You don’t know everything.

Wait until you try to parse “carbarn”, Linus. :D

In San Francisco, they call it a Cow Palace.

Don’t worry, Linus, it’s just a technicality.

I actually like the term “cow house” better.

It’s probably next to the chicken tent.

Linus, just look it up. If you can quote Bible verses, you can do this. And then you will be udderly correct.

I remember the strange, the exotic new words. I remember from 70 years ago.

Reminds me of a story – I had gone to look at a wrecked car. It was so badly damaged, it couldn’t be driven. I was having a bit of trouble explaining that to the owner who didn’t speak English well. We finally found a translator – his 7 year old nephew. I asked the boy to tell his uncle that he needed to call a tow truck to have his car taken to a shop. The kid spoke flawless English, but he looked down at his sneakers and asked me, “What is a toe truck?”

Costello: WOW. Look at that big bunch of cows over there!

Abbott: Herd.

Costello: What?

Abbott: Herd. Herd of cows.

Costello: Of course I’ve heard of cows. There’s a bunch right over there.

I don’t really see a difference between a farm and a barn.

I think cow house is cute. I may use that. :D

Okay so how did they get the word Barn; which is also Norwegian for child or infant to define a building to house animals?

That’s actually kind of an unusual pose in panel one for Schulz to have depicted this late. It looks more typical of the first few years when the characters were a bit more three-dimensional and less abstracted.
