Where did the USAF even buy a ten grand toilet seat cover? (And to get out of my system from the “Clannad” anime… all that and a toilet [or “sore to benza kabā” in Japanese]. ~Yōhei Sunohara)

When I was in the service we had a tool that was a rectangular block of white metal that cost $150. No one knew what it was for.

We paid $10,000 for a toilet seat cover. And they still leave it up.

To be fair, it would have to be a heckuva big cover…

The C-5 is an airplane. Why does it need a toilet? Airplanes don’t use toilets.

R&D (research and development) is figured into the cost of all products. As “J. R. Schwarzenhammer” stated, a small run cost more due to the percentage of R&D into the total cost. If you and 20 friends wanted a 100% custom pickup truck built from the ground up, do you think it would be the same price as a Ford F-150?

The “toilet seat cover”;is not like the one on your household toilet. It is the name of the entire panel inside the plane.

Sand bars and islands in the Mississippi come and go. I’ve been told that the westernmost point in Illinois is a small island north of Meyer, Ill. that formed from debris collecting on a sunken steamboat. Main channel changes too – the first capital of Illinois is now west Missouri) of the main channel.

If you left the Mississippi river alone, New Orleans would have little or no river front.

In the days when dueling was popular, it was common to fight them on river islands (particularly the rivers between states) because if it straddled two states’ jurisdiction, it was harder to figure out who could arrest you. Especially when the land was low enough that a rising water level could completely obscure it.
