When I took my first lesson from an 80+ year old pro named Red Speigel, he asked me, “What is the object of golf?” I thought is was a silly question; figuring the answer of course was get the ball in the hole with the least amount of strokes. He said, “No. The object of golf is to hit the ball in a manner that is pleasing to you.”
The only way to play golf is to be on a beautiful green meadow on a lovely day and use hitting a stupid ball with a stick as an excuse for being there.
