Looks like Nancy is still in a class by herself – but at least she is being allowed to sit on a chair with a desk in front of her – and even found a window. Of course, back in the olden days, when I went to school – our school room had six or seven windows. In those days, we had shutters on the inside and on the outside of the windows. Wen it was time to go home, one of the children would be allowed to use a pole with a hook and close the shutters inside the classroom. There was usually a special math problem and the first one to solve the problem would be the one chosen to close the shutters. EVERYONE wanted to have an opportunity to close the windows. The school custodian would go around and close the shutters on the outside of the school house windows.
Once upon a time, the teachers in Nancy’s school had to teach more than one student at a time. There is still evidence of the classrooms where Nancy and her friends went to school – once upon a time – at Nancy Classics. Enjoy Nancy in more interesting classrooms.

I’m dense this morning. To me, it looks and reads as if this strip is missing its fourth panel and the punch line. Will someone please explain this one to me?
This must be one of those schools where the teacher follows the same class of kids all the way through elementary school! Wait, what’s that? Those schools don’t exist? LOL
Haha! Nancy inadvertently displays the principles that the teacher wants, but in a way that is also the antithesis of what the teacher wants.
Her “eyebrow expression” today…. really, really good.
It is entertaining to read the speculation about what the teacher means (or what perhaps OJ secretly means ) with what she has on the chalkboard (er, I guess it is a whiteboard). But, for me, the other interesting thing to contemplate is…. presuming the material on the whiteboard was written by the teacher…. she must be quite the “free spirit” in some ways…. never in all my years associated with education, did I see an instructor just haphazardly place numbers or equations in such a non-linear fashion.
That Nancy’s teacher uses the whiteboard so “abstractly” to show concrete concepts…. makes me think there is a whole lot more to the teacher’s backstory than we currently know. I hope OJ considers giving us additional glimpses and insight into the teacher character.
One other, minor aside…. it seems like the “Gilchristians” who abhor the new Nancy have left. Oddly, I have to say I kind of miss several of them. Some of their comments were creative and funny (even when I disagreed with them).

The earth science teacher gave us “Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic,” and I thought, three rocks.

A good, thoughtful laugh. I am beginning to count on Nancy for a upbeat start to the day. (And Nancy commenters of course.)

When is this strip going to get funny ? I miss Gilchrist so much.

My reading is that she is not simply “curious,” which is trivial. Her desire for learning rises to the level of need.
