lewreader: Say what, now? The USPS is hemorrhaging money. The only black they’re in is of the black hole variety.
I don’t hate the IRS or the USPS – they’re organizations, not people, which are legally constituted to do necessary and useful jobs. Nor do I hate the people who work for them. Sure, some of them are prize jerks, but everyone is a jerk sometimes, so you have to be willing to cut people some slack.
One problem with the IRS is the infernal complexity of the tax laws, and the frequency that new changes come along. Even the “experts” have trouble keeping up.
We recently sent in a quarterly report–they objected and claimed we were in error by a few bucks (let’s say $5.28). We sent a check for $5.28–don’t want to get a penalty on top of the error plus interest–and a month later, they decided we now had overpaid by–$5.28.
Funny thing - IRS auditors spend a dozen years or so browbeating people for money, then they “retire” and go to work for companies that help people worm their way out of paying taxes.

Unfair. they took deductions from my paycheck and I have to deduct again.
The IRS is One of 2 government agencies in the black. The USPS is the other. I don’t hate my mailman.

Scaty, Lew is an ex-mailman. He doesn’t seem to recall the Dogs’ opinions of him.

Doc, you want a line item veto on government spending? Even the Prez doesn’t get that.

Radish: as long as there are kids and tax collectors, SS will be in the black.
