I get the point of the joke, but, aside from some of his interpersonal choices, he was, at the core, a quiet man who refused to be elevated to the Presidency of Israel. He said, in part, “I cannot accept it. All my life I have dealt with objective matters, hence I lack both the natural aptitude and the experience to deal properly with people and to exercise official functions.” He was a humble and very practical man. I was a young teen when he left us, but even then I knew who he was, and I mourned his passing. I can only say what everyone says, he was a very great man.
