At that age they are equal in mass and strength. When puberty hits, girls need to use strategy and sneakiness against the suddenly stronger and bigger boys.

She can get very strong, it just won’t show. And with the use of techniques for joints, snap kicks and blows to the eyes and throat she can still toppled a 400 lb giant. If she is fast and strong enough.

So, is she in remission or still receiving treatment? While it is possible-if you accept that anything is possible-that Annie can fight on an equal footing with children not burdened with a life-threatening malady that requires strength and energy sapping treatments, this all seems unlikely, to the point of absurdity. We are supposed to feel the pathos of a story about a child, seemingly being cheated out of a long, productive life but aside from baldness, she’s this physically vibrant in her day-to-day life?
