I’ve worked night shifts in my day. Roy will be spending his days sleeping.

Love that detail in panel # 2 & #3. The book she is holding says “Make M…. @ home,” I think, and the one on the left bottom says “Free Lance…” Free Lance I understand (photography), but the first one has me stumped. "Make moonshine… maybe:)

I alway’s say Wal-Mart is good for everything. Even raising a family.

As I recall, the Bowl Cut was something his mother organized every year. That’s probably why he was living in the wilderness until he met Charlene. The Bowl Cut could also serve as punishment for not only running from the altar, but also for not inviting his mother.

This is the first time we see him smile with that hairstyle. He’s found a night-shift job. That will be way less embarrassing for him that working the day shift.

In this guise Roy looks like a turn-of-the-century (19th > 20th) cartoon character I’ve seen before but can’t place. There were hundreds of oddball characters back then. If you’ve never looked at a history of American cartoons, it’s well worth a visit. Nov shmoz ka pop.
