Whenever my daughter visited the dentist she used to sing that dentist’s song from the Little Shop of Horrors. Very entertaining to everyone and it made her feel more at ease. Better than what she did to her GP when he tried to give her a shot.
When I was around 8 or 9, I needed braces. I also needed 15 teeth pulled (8 permanent and 7 baby). Obviously that was quite traumatic, and one time my mom brought me to the dentist and hadn’t told me what they were going to do. When he pulled out the gas mask, I realized what was up, and said “I have to go to the bathroom.” I ran out to the waiting room and pitched a fit, and my mom decided to take me home. The dentist acted like such a jerk, we never went back to him. All I wanted was notice to prepare myself mentally. To this day I still hate the dentist.
My childhood dentists were all like that but my last dentist was great…. he’d play blues and his walls were cobvered with posters of all the concerts he’d been to.
I had a dentist like that when I was Lio’s age. Even my parents thought he was “a bit weird” but never changed dentists. It’s why I still fear my gentle, modern dentists sixty years later!

The Dentist must be new to the neighborhood. I wonder if Dad will also run out once he sees the operating theater?

That’s actually just the dental hygienist to do the cleaning. The dentist will be in later.

Reminds me of the video for Pat Benatar’s “Get Nervous”.
