These are not uncommon to show up in US based archaeological digs either. If one goes to Colonial Williamsburg or other historic sites which are doing or have done a dig recently and have some of the stuff they found on display, plastic toys, soda (and other) bottles, etc. are common to be seen – just from a higher strata level (more recent in history). Have never seen a dinosaur found in a dig we have visited or seen the items found at, but then again, it does say occasional and they are found in same.
I understand that many College Archeology classes are now using former Garbage Dumps as training grounds for their students because hte Budget doesn’t support trips to actual Archaeological sites.
As a somewhat disturbing side note, there are reports that, in some, restaurant garbage 50 or 60 years buried has turned up chunks of meat that, Technically, could still be regarded as “Edible” because it has not decayed as would have been expected. I believe it gets turned over to the Biology students to examine the Bacterial reasons why it hasn’t decayed.

I wouldn’t put it past Meemaw to salt those digs with treasures, just to please the kids.

The people at the Thrift store really love to see Meemaw coming in.
She buys every toy, no matter how bad the condition.

Everyone should be lucky to have a Meemaw like this one.

I dug a trench at my first house-30’ x3’ x 5’ deep, by hand. I unearthed 2 glass Alka-Seltzer bottles, both glass, 3’ down.
