Horror always got to me in a way I didn’t like. Much of my childhood was spent in what could be seen as desensitizing by repeated exposure. And there were some powerful things to be exposed to, as there were paperback reprints of EC horror comics on spin racks in drugstores, for instance.
Desensitizing horror movies, when I bother these days, consists of seeing bits and pieces of them at random intervals, preferably starting with a version that’s already been blunted a bit for lily-livered TV audiences.
Tiny screen’s a nice thought, though. I’ll add that to the arsenal.
