I’m impressed. No sacred cows for Mr. Hinds.

Occasional penalties are just part of the show.

Pandering to the ‘stars’ degrades the integrity of the game. It does not matter the star power of the player, they should know the rules, AND the consequences of what happens when the rules are broken.

Well, so long as her caricature isn’t drawn into the strip, everything ought to be okay.

I know this is a comic strip, but I still fear that it’s a short step from recognizing a “big draw” in any sport (football, basketball, golf, tennis, …) to subtly slanting the playing field toward them as well. Some big name basketball players, for instance, seem to be exempt from traveling penalty calls because their drives to the basket are so exciting.

Old baseball anecdote (that probably never happened): The pitcher complained about a pitch the umpire called a ball. The umpire told him: “Mr [Rogers] Hornsby will let you know when it is a strike.” (In other words, by crushing the pitch!)
