I lie on my back with the book propped on a pillow so as not to hurt my neck. The only problem is, when you doze off, the book topples over on your face; an indication it’s time to turn out the light.

Nothing is accomplished unless you get up and do something.

I didn’t need to read a book, Kurosawa put me to sleep in the theater. I walked out on Ran. Guess I’m just a heathen.

Film people worship him; he’s surely a great director. Like Bergman, not for every taste.
