I hadn’t heard about this. Researching it, I was amazed to find this USA Today headline: “Vontae Davis showed courage in his shocking halftime NFL retirement”. Personally, I would disagree with fivestring65 above, but agree with Sabrina17. I know I have been in hockey games when I was just so tired, I didn’t know if I could physically last until the end, but decided that leaving would be too unfair to my teammates. In Davis’s shoes, I probably would have told the coach about my mental state, and ridden the bench to the end of the game. Or he could have faked a minor injury.
