Yep, it sure is hell on cats, I can tell you that much. One of mine gets so shock-shy this time of year that he stops giving me head-butts during the family greeting time after work.
I still remember the painful shocks I’d get opening the door of my old Dodge Aries. Most car doors are staticey in dry winters but that one seemed to be trying to kill me.
