I wouldn’t know for I’m not married. As for my brother and his wife who’ve been married only a few years, I bet they still have those towels… not that I’m aware they got towels as a wedding gift.
Two types of couples – 1). Towels were never, ever to be actually used; 2). Towels used every day for decades until they were reduced to nothing more than a few cotton threads on the towel bar. There is no middle ground.
I still have towels and wash cloths from when my wife and I were married—over fifty years ago. We got so many plus what she ‘picked up’ over the years, they didn’t have the chance to get worn out ! ! ! !
You know you’re a Senior Plugger if the casserole dishes in your cupboard, the pillowcases on your pillows, the bedspread on your bed, the pictures on your wall, the towels and washcloths in your bathroom, and the doilies on your recliner, the tablecloth on your dining room table AND the table itself are ALL wedding gifts you received MORE than 50 years ago – and you are still using ALL of them!

Still have towels from when I started college, in 1970.

When towels are dried in the dryer and there is no lint, just thread, it’s time to replace them.

Yeah, we still have towels we got 35 years ago. Added some, but the well made towels have lasted a long time. The cheaper ones give out a lot sooner.

Just a side note - animal shelters can always use towels if you have any you don’t need.
