Just a wee question…..Is the intent of Lalo’s cartoon to demonstate that today’s First Nations groups are actually just a caricature of ‘the real thing’? (Sorry, I just had to ask). Or, have they been pushed so far out of our society, that they are barely recognizable? Society everywhere, expects them all to adapt to our culture, live almost pennilessly, take whatever is given them and be thankful we accept them. Even the poorest of the poor have more money and benefits than our First Nations groups. Although things are changing slowly, I have read recently that US First Nations are not even allowed to vote. They are becoming nonentities. Is this really true?

Want to show them some respect? Start by honoring the treaties. Hold your politicians accountable and if they refuse, show them the unemployment line.
