Our predecessors typically lasted about 2 million years. We have been around for about a quarter of a million years, perhaps more if you credit a recent discovery that may be H. sapiens. In any case, it’s just a matter of time for all species. We may deteriorate badly before we come to an end, though. Check out Fragile X syndrome, a progressive inherited condition that will inevitably affect all our progeny. We each carry the seed of it.

They are not all extinct. I saw a purple Dino on TV just yesterday. Dancing no less.

Re yesterday: It’s very difficult to come up with truly unique ideas. My favorite was adding to the Far Sides: ie the one where the wagon train is under attack and one man says “They’re lighting their arrows – can they do that?” I added the other man responding “Look it up -I’m certain it’s against ISO 9001 regulations!”

Oh and this is set in the far future not the past.
