I had a friend who got bitten by one of those spiders. He did not understand that this particular spider bite was very serious. He ignored it. (This friend was a man in his 40s by the way, someone who should have known better.)
It ate the flesh of his hand to the bone. Left a hole a couple inches wide by the time he understood this was a problem. He ended up in the hospital.
Be very careful with spider bites. Especially this one.
And their bites are not pleasant! I was bitten on my back (the little demon decided in my bedsheets was a good place to hide). It was the most painful thing I’ve ever felt. I woke up with a swelling on my back about 8 inches in diameter and 4 inches high. Even the lightest blouses were painful on it. It took about 3 months for the swelling to subside. There are still two black marks from the fang entry on my back and the area itches ALL the time, I mean 24/7! The bite occurred in March 1989!
I had a black widow living in the crack between the fridge and sink for years. She was pretty big, and (as we’re in sunny Florida where it is ALWAYS a problem of some sort) ATE NASTY ROACHES. I loved that spider. She would come out and watch me wash dishes sometimes.

That is one species of spider I will kill on sight. I leave all other spiders alone as they are very beneficial.
