You only owe a million? A lot of students wish they only owed that little. They should declare themselves to be “too big to fail”. That way, the rest of the taxpayers would pay off their loans.
I always paid mine off by adding at least a small extra to every payment and not missing any. It took them down faster. I still do that with credit card debt (keeping my car alive) as much as I can.
The Bank of North Dakota will let you consolidate all of your student loans, even from out-of-state schools, at a very low interest rate. Under 2% the last time I checked.
