In the movie IN WHICH WE SERVE Noel Coward’s son asks “Daddy, what’s ‘betrothed’?” and he answers “It’s the beginning of the end, dear boy!”

Jim has done an excellent rendition of Frank King. I guess he needed the time off last year to do a good job for the anniversary.

Engaged means betrothted (not a typo, it’s from Finian’s Rainbow).

For those who aren’t already in the know, Nina’s name is pronounced NINE-a. They had a strip that explained that but since it wasn’t repeated here I thought I’d let you know. I have a cousin Mina and when she got married the preacher kept pronouncing her name wrong.

There was a tie-in novel from Whitman (of course!) at this time, “Nina and Skeezix: The Problem of the Lost Ring”, credited to Frank King.

Nina Clock’s parents were referred to as Grandfather Clock and Grandmother Clock.
