Still wishing I’d had a camera to hand around 1981 when I noticed that a neon sign (for someone’s rooming house, no less) on a pole held a dead, black bird that had become trapped in it and managed to force its head and some of its upper body out before it croaked. I felt sad for the bird, of course.
