Just look how well the Vegas Golden Knights did last season when they made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals, Linus. Then stick your tongue out at Lucy like Michael Jordan.
I have an older sister. Luckily, she’s nothing like Lucy. She’s about two and a half years older than me. Enough of a gap in age that we could pretty much ignore each other growing up.
I was the oldest of three. I could be cruel. My younger sister and brother were brought on this Earth just to make my life hell. My sister was a tattletale and my brother was an embarrassment. We are very close now. Eight year old kids can be crueler than drunken pirates.
Contextually, this was a hilarious thing to say at the time. Though it was two years after the Mets finally went all the way, baseball had been loaded up with the Padres and Expos, and the Pilots/Brewers. And the Astros and Senators were still bad (and the Senators would move to Texas the next year and get even worse).
Sports writers were complaining that all the expansion teams had diluted the talent pool and lowered the overall quality of baseball, that a good 10% of players in the game now were people who would not have left the minors before 1961.
Linus was always a genius, and his comment on a contemporary issue was excellent.
I had an older sister like Lucy. She said similar words when she was 9. I was holding a goalie stick when she said that. She could not speak for a week with that jaw wired shut. And after that every cutting remark from her was met with similar retaliation. Took her a broken leg and a broken clavicle before she learned to not be so nasty. Bullies need to be met with force first and then you can try to talk about it.
In the heat of an argument between Mom & my then 12 y.o. middle sister, Mom said something relative to that.. sis then spent the next half-century becoming a multi-millionaire to prove to her late Mom that she had value..

In this age, we call it DLC, Linus.

It’s like living in China (before they reverted back to the two-child policy).

Yeah, the expansion club that won the championship in its first year and the old clubs are jealous.

Looks like a bad case of male envy. She is first born but, he continues the line.

Yeah. Lucy channeling my brothers… stinks being the youngest.

That was a cutting, vicious remark… it’s the sort of thing you regret you ever said, but can never “unsay”.

She’s just jealous. The 2nd child is nearly always an improvement over the 1st.

You should maybe talk to the manager and not someone who plays deep roving right field.
