Not much of a treat. More like dashed hopes. So, double trick.

I saw where someone was advocating coating brussels sprouts in chocolate and handing them out. That’s just mean.

There was a guy that tried that with apples and needles. Didn’t turn out well for him when the kids father inspected the fruit at the sidewalk. Cops said they had no idea who beat the crap out of the guy after they saw the apple.

A new twist on the old ‘snakes in a can’ gag.

“Trick or treat” can go both ways. When my kids were young enough to go out (decades ago), I would save all the candy that they didn’t like until the next year. Quite often we had gangs of older teenagers making the rounds, essentially, extorting candy from the home owners. They got the year-old candy. The young kids (and their parents) got new, fresh candy bars or some equivalent high-quality treat.

My former Significant Other’s dad (RIP) was an accomplished amateur magician. Their house always drew a crowd on Halloween because he used to put on a mini-show & hand out candy at the end. Tricks AND treats!
