Most of the month you just get your normal allotment of candy, whatever that is, so you must eat up your entire supply of Halloween candy on the very night for October to be the special candy month.
Each year around Halloween, Wegman’s would put out a bulk candy choice that had a bunch of forgettable stuff and two things I liked, so I would go forage and bring home the part I liked and consume the resulting hoard sparingly through the year.
This year, it wasn’t there, and nothing is taking its place. The rush of moral virtuous feeling this fills me with is way less enjoyable than the candy would have been.
(Speaking of candy, they had ‘throwback’ packages of Wacky Wafers the other week, and I bought one. Then I read the sugar content. You know you’re in trouble when the serving size is “one piece.” So now I have to make it last. At the risk of sounding repetitious, you know what sucks? Eating candy responsibly.)

But… but Hallowe’en is the very last day of October. November is the month of eating the candy you got the night before.
At least, November first is the day of eating it…
