    He felt lightheaded and weak.

    “Must—not—close—my—eyes!”

Fatigue swept over him like a bad bologna sandwich.

    “Must—endure—until—help—arrives!”

But would the Calvary come in time?

    Or at all?

    And who??

Mrs , Mrs. Jones couldn’t cut it.

    Sweatbox’s ticket was punched.

    The Nitrates fizzled out.

    Measles blew a patch.

Realizing there was no one he could count on he girded his loins for the battle ahead.

“No matter how boring things get I will never surrender, never give up!”

    Good morning™, path crossers!

Vitamin, indeed, tends to encounter criminals often.

    At Neil W

“but he was in danger of wearing out his welcome.”

All good things got t’ come to an end before putrefaction sets in.

Good morning™ and salutations from criminals gone. Just a refresher from decades long past come for a brief glimpse in the present. Less than a ghost, more than just a memory. Evanescent yet solid as water.

I recall that Vitamin also met Blowtop with bad results for the latter.

If I remember correctly, in the early 50s Dick Tracy shot flat top thru the head.

Shocked – Shocked I am at the suggestion that there are criminals to be found in the theatrical world! (What’s the emoji for heavy sarcasm?)

Flattop meets Vitamin on March 10, 1944. Volumes eight and nine of The Complete Dick Tracy (1942-1945) are two of the essential collections. We meet Pruneface, Laffy, Flattop, the Summer Sisters, Shakey, the Brow, and Vitamin Flintheart. Good use of the flashback that pivots to present day Vitamin at Pitchblende Studios. It is as though the old ham overhears what Tracy is telling Kandikane. I like it.

Side note: Kliph Nesteroff writes about the history of stand-up comedy as the intersection of show biz and organized crime. His book is great, and his entries at WFMU’s Beware of the Blog, which form the backbone of the book, might be even better.

Seems like Staton and Curtis are wandering around for a story line.

Vitamin! You’re supposed to be a veteran professional thespian! Stop listening to the “Omniscient Narrator” and concentrate on your lines!
