During the French Revolution, the mental asylum at Charenton was actually attempting to break from past mistreatment of mental patients. One new experimental treatment involved allowing the patients to put on plays. The practice was controversial, of course, especially for allowing members of the nobility to come to see the performances… with the exploitation that implies. A play and film based on these events, a drama with music, came out in the early 1960s. Both the staged and filmed versions had an extraordinarily long title: “The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade.”
Last time I was bitten by a spider, I developed these weird spider traits: eyes on the back of my head; more legs than I know what to do with, and a compulsion to devour my mate. Spiderman, pah. I don’t think so.
This article (see below) states a man died from being bitten 19 times from a black widow so technically, the comic strip MAY be right about “a bite”. Wording can mean everything, I guess.
I read a medical article somewhere, a while back in the past, where the scientists wanted to see if a person developed antibodies to black widow spider venom that would help if the person were bitten a second time. A volunteer let the spider bite him. The misery he suffered from the bite was so severe (though he didn’t die) that he changed his mind about being bitten a second time to complete the study! (And who could blame him.)

Those Black Widows will make you very sick though. So will the Brown Widows and Brown Recluse spiders we have here in Alabama.

Hey that’s not true about black widow spider bites. They just destroy the recordings to avoid law suits. Deadly and smart, they are.

It is more socially acceptable to call your own warts “glands”.
