By the use of sophisticated technology based upon the ability to stack atoms, create molecules of any type. They are growing and subtly they will expand and continue till their program is stopped or it begins to consume others should they meet. It is never ending. Wrecking them is futile as they will repair using the weapons that did the damage! The alien beings have long lives and long range plans.
