are the Grolar bears sterile like mules and ligers or are they still able to breed? I’ve heard of dolphin/whale hybrids nicknamed wolphins that can still breed afterward, which could be a really rare instance of speciation by cross breeding.
I just heard a podcast (RadioLab) about this Grizzly-Polar bear hybrid and it turns out they all came from the same family. A mom Polar had cubs with two different grizzly bear dads. One of her daughters in a litter had cubs with her “stepdad” and so it all began:
