Lester ‘the Molester’ Hayes was directly responsible for at least three rules changes, especially including getting rid of stickum after the time that he coated his hands, arms, and jersey with stickum and made a pick-six by jumping in front of the ball so that it hit his shoulder and stuck there and he ran all the way to the end zone with the ball ridding his shoulder pads. Receivers loved stickum; after Lester the Molester showed how it could be used by the defence, suddenly quarterbacks weren’t so thrilled.
