So one of his rare strips with an actual message. Does kinda remind me of the BP strip where he had Pig deliberately swear at BP for the oil spill. Think I need to go through my treasuries, find that whole arc and that strip specifically, and get the date so I can post the archive page.

Here in Denver, we had two serious and fatal fires in two different senior living communities, both on the same day. And don’t get me started on the fires in California.

Yes, checking the box is the easiest of the three to do.

But people run back into burning buildings to save pets.

    Why not people, too?

They should create a negative-option system where they take your organs unless you’ve told them not to!

But there is only a 1% chance of saving a life which means that I only have a 1% chance of going to heaven. It is like playing the lottery to get into heaven.

A while the defendant was carrying my client away from the fire, he dropped him. This caused grievous bodily injury of a broken ankle. That is why we are suing for 20 Million dollars.

I live in a coastal state, and you wouldn’t believe the number of news briefs I’ve read in the paper reporting two drowning deaths when it should have been only one, just because somebody tried to be a hero. I can appreciate the impulse, but face facts: fire and water rescues are the purview of trained professionals.

Another easy way to save a life today – donate blood or especially platelets at the Red Cross. Platelets cannot be stored and only have a 5 day “shelf life”.

I haven’t seen anyone post they could be “the good guy with a gun that stops a bad guy with a gun”. Mind that’s only ever worked in NRA theory, it’s the paid people, usually in kevlar body armour that brings it to an end.

In Mich. donating after a certain age (65 or older) is discouraged. So I was informed by a Dr. It is believed that your organs are no longer viable! I suggested that he refrain from donating his brain!

Scary fact: “More than 125 million people have registered as organ donors, but only about 3 in 1,000 can actually become donors when they die.” Hence, so important to get more folks to sign up. For more information: https://www.organdonor.gov/index.html

WOW, we mention being an organ donor and wind up debating socialism and Obama Un-affordable healthcare. Being an organ donor is great but I have read of case where a person signed up to be an organ donor and the family did not want them to take the eyes and the hospital said the family has no choice. If you are a donor, they can take what they please. The family was grieved.

I’ve had the “organ donor” designation on my driver’s license since my 20s. I tried to get my ex to do it too but he said, “You’re not supposed to chop up a Catholic & give the pieces away.” Sheesh.

(Yeah, same ex who chewed me out for diving into a pool & pulling out a guy who couldn’t swim.)

I always felt uncomfortable with the idea of organ donation. That is, until a classmate and very close friend needed (and luckily received) a heart transplant! He is doing well 4 years later, thank you for asking. Once organ donation became personal and I saw how much it mattered, I no longer had qualms about checking that box. I also give blood, even though I’m terrified of needles.

My now-sister-in-law actually did run into a burning building to save my brother. Which is why she’s now my sister-in-law. (Nobody else could ever possibly live up to something like that.) Organ donors saved my mom’s eyesight. Blood donors saved my life and my daughter’s. Thank you, every one of you.
