While this arc began as what seemed to be a pretty straight forward send-up of Trump, &c, these last couple of weeks have me really scratching my head.
While searching through “Blinded by the Light” lyrics, this, from a blogger: Bruce reminisces about his younger days saying “With a boulder on my shoulder feelin’ kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round / With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing the calliope crashed to the ground”. The Springsteen song is about a cocky young man lured in by the carnival glitz and glamor of the music business. But his calliope, a Greek muse or an organ-like musical instrument powered by steam whistles, gets tripped up by the young man’s naivete about the way the world works. Likewise if America continues to buy into its own arrogant invincibility, our regenerative muse will desert us as well.
Read some of the East Asian stories on hidden, warm and green places amongst the Himalayas etc. Shangri La is just one of them. Maybe Xanadu is another such place.
A wonderful story I would read for months. An unexpected hidden place that Genji was shocked to see.
In several Lovecraft used in his works. Most especially in “The Nameless City” though we don’t see it proper it is spoken of and shown in a series of paintings on the rocks inside. In “The Mound” with Zelia Bishop we find a whole underground world inhabited by humans of a sort and the whole place is lit by blue glowing animals that float in the air so it is blue light all the time in the underground world. Not a pleasant as this place, however.

Look it’s Dame Jane Goodall, aka Tarzan’s Jane. Women always outlive men and she is Queen of the Cave Monkey’s now.

Better to stay wary, Genji.

I’m really liking Willey’s work on drawing Genji, esp Panels 2&3 today. Interesting technique and detail.

Sign of an excellent comic…stirs up the pros and cons and gets the juices running…no sign of apathy here!

Oh good, a hidden land. Suddenly, I feel like I’m reading something authored by Edgar Rice Burroughs (and that’s a good thing).
