Scooter’s wondering if he can drag Roger all the way past Miss Millie High-Maintenance’s window before Roger regains his equilibrium. He knows she goes for the bad boys.

Lost the reins? He lost a lot more than that …

His hat, his pocket change, some skin …

    And of course his dignity.

If Roger’d harnessed all that energy into something constructive, instead of trying to train Scooter to be a sled dog with no sled, Roger would not be in for the the rather painful experience, he’s about to have.

Everybody knows that you can’t train BALLARD STREET dogs. They train you !

Lost more than the reins.. That harness is for pulling a chariot..and it serves Rodger right for falling off.. he should know better not to wear cowboy boots. But.. where is the chariot..Rodger is going to loose his deposit.

I lived not far from Ballard Street and about a mile from Alger. Thanks for the nostalgia of my childhood in Grand Rapids.
